Bahia Esmeralda is the perfect place for a family getaway. We relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful amenities, amazing pool, and stunning gardens. The sounds of nature — iguanas, hummingbirds, various birds, and even monkeys waking us up each morning — were incredible. The delicious breakfast and pleasant walks to the beautiful beaches of Penca and Prieta were highlights of our stay, along with strolls and dining at nearby restaurants. The place is immaculately clean and relaxing. The staff, particularly Rosemary, were exceptional, going above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. From serving wonderful typical Tico breakfasts to providing top-notch tourist tips, they ensured we had the best “PURA VIDA” experience. Highly recommend Hotel Bahia Esmeralda!

We had sun, warm ocean, exotic nature and friendly people, the Bahia Esmeralda hotel met our expectations 100%. Separate cottages of the hotel provide intimacy. well thought out and maintained greenery: palm trees, cacti, banana trees, guanacaste, flowering shrubs. In the middle is a swimming pool, were we encountered the fauna of Costa Rica: sloths, iguanas, monkeys, birds and butterflies. Our suite was furnished functionally, and was neat and clean. We often enjoyed a tasty pizza prepared on site. The hotel has a very good location. Potrero Beach is right next door, and about 500 meters from the hotel is Penca Beach with yellow sand, almost empty at this time of year. There are two well-stocked stores and a fruit bazaar within 150 meters of the hotel, as well as several places to eat and a church nearby. The hotel staff was very knowledgeable, courteous and always available. They helped us resolve problems with the airline losing our luggage and with our car rental.
